Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, often referred to professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label released her first EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, July 21st, 2015. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's references. Then, later in the year, her music was played around Dreamville. On December 28, 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had contracted with Dreamville Records. In the album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream of the album dropped on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a an accompanying music video. Her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. This track, which was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over three million times over the first seven days. In December of 2018, she was performing as a support act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
