She brought both cultures together and helped bring Tejano music into the mainstream. Her name was rising but her sudden death broke it. It is also the case with a talented, charismatic and young artist dies too soon, many mourned the potential that she could not yet reach. In order to prevent her achievements from becoming forgotten, many fans over the past years have been motivated to do even more. Selena's tragic death by shooting triggered a response in the Latino Community, similar as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon.
